Dr McKibbin completed his General Practice Specialist Training in Scotland and migrated to Perth, Australia in 2011. He chose medicine as a vocation from an early age, inspired by his father's work as a GP in the local community. Whilst entertaining thoughts of other specialties throughout medical school at the University of Dundee, he always returned to General Practice as a calling.

Dr McKibbin delights in the variety offered by General Practice and has gained a reputation in the Joondalup area as a family doctor who really cares about the outcomes his patients achieve and has forged strong relationships during his years of practice at Joondalup Drive Medical Centre and Joondalup Health Campus After Hours GP clinic. His passion and skill has always been enabling patients to understand their condition and put them at ease that they are receiving the most appropriate care.

Dr McKibbin attends regular updates on clinical practice including national conferences and local meetings, ensuring he is providing evidence driven, gold-standard care.

A Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners and a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, Dr McKibbin is a proud advocate of GP's as the core of patient centred medical care in Australia. 

​

Having a strong interest in dermatology and skin cancer, he runs skin check clinics every week and performs minor surgical procedures Monday to Thursday.

​

Dr McKibbin has undertaken further training in allergic disease and offers skin prick testing for airborne allergens such as house dust mite, grasses, dog and cat at his Edgewater practice.

​

Occupational Health is a significant part of Dr McKibbin's practice - he greatly enjoys working with clients to reach their goals of returning to work following an injury and derives great satisfaction from achieving the optimum outcome. He performs Workers Compensation assessments, pre-employment medicals and injury management in Edgewater and other locations in WA with SonicHealth Plus and Jem Health.
